When I was growing up, I was 8 of 9 kids, my Dad had a stroke when I was 7 and we were surviving on my mom's income. Money was tight and it was never alright to waste food. Because of that, I had to eat the crust off my bread, and all the stuff mixed into the eggs, and all the stuff on the pizza...etc. To cope with those rules, I adopted a "save the best for last" policy. I would eat the crust first and then enjoy the bread. I would eat the toppings I didn't like first and then enjoy the pizza and so on. It always worked for me, and I wouldn't get into trouble for wasting food.
Well. Jordan's favorite cereal is Marshmallow Mateys (Malt-O-Meal versions of Lucky Charms). Jordan has been talked too many a time for eating out all the marshmallows and then leaving the other stuff, and refusing to finish it. Then he wants more so he can do it again.
Sorry, goes against everything I was raised on.
This morning when we were eating breakfast, I looked over at Jordan and watched him eat for a minute. I notice Jordan is picking out all the "other stuff" and leaving all the marshmallows behind. So after I watched him for a minute, and thinking about whether or not I ever told them about my "save the best for last policy"...which I didn't... I finally asked him about it. He was very proud of HIS brilliant idea! Win, Win situation!
So although Jordan is more like his Dad in many things, at least he has MY Brilliant mind!
