First I got to go to Karlee's Thanksgiving "play" and listen to her sing some super cute songs.
Then we got to go have a "thanksgiving feast" in her classroom. I use the term "feast" loosely, because it consisting of pie, jello, Cheetos, rice crispy treats, and cornbread, which I brought. Luckily another mom finally brought in a big thing of Mac-n-cheese and saved the "feast".
Karlee got to decorate her own...uh, Indian thingy...it was a pillowcase.On Wednesday I started preparing the Roast Beast...I mean Turkey. Seriously though, the thing was HUGE! It was 23 pounds and when you filled it full of water I could barely lift it in and out of the Brine.
This was my second time cooking a turkey, and it went better this time. However, it's hard to get better at it, when you only do it once a year...oh well!
This is a picture of it half way through the cooking process. I covered it with tin foil right after I took this picture so it wouldn't get any darker, and the browning evened out a lot. It sure did taste good, and even though it was moist, it still wasn't as moist as the friends that introduced us to brining a turkey. Maybe after a couple more years I'll get the hang of it!
Here is our table set up. Not bad! For the first time, I finally found a "centerpiece" that would work for long tables! Yea! Sorry I didn't take any close ups, you will just have to click on the pictures to see better.
The things on the plates are the place setting cards...or whatever they are called.

I didn't take any good pictures of the desserts, but Erik did get this one. It doesn't have the pumpkin pies, or the chocolate pie in it but Oh well.
So that was our Thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun getting to know everyone a little better and sharing our holiday with them. Christmas will be here before I know it!
