There isn't a ton of things to see here in Augusta, especially if you are not into Golfing, which we so are not. (Sorry to you golfers out there, but I'm glad Erik isn't into it, we have enough expenses without golf equipment added into the mix!) My Dad wasn't feeling all that well this day, so he opted to stay behind and rest while we took our very noisy kids and Grandma to the Savannah River Riverwalk! It's actually very pretty! They have a long trail up on a ridge where you can see the Savannah River on one side and downtown Augusta on the other. When we first got to Augusta, we tried to go see the Savannah river and couldn't find it, because first of all we didn't know where to go, and second of all you can't see it from the road. You can't see it unless you go over the ridge. The "ridge" is actually part of the levee system put in place to protect against flooding. We got some pictures of the markers of the water levels of past floods. It's amazing! I can't help but think about the people in Indiana, Iowa, and New Orleans when I see how high the water gets!
Those lines on the bricks are water levels that past floods have reached. The top was 150 feet if I remember correctly. We weren't even down to the Savannah river yet, this almost at street level.
There are some huge houses on the other side of the river, as you can see. Most of them have their own boat dock!
After you go over the ridge (levee), there is a beautiful pathway lined with trees that goes along the river. Hence the name the river walk! (huh...Go figure!)
Right at the River walk is Fort Discovery. We decided to go there to cool off, since it was so hot outside. It was really fun. They had a demonstration on sound and Karlee is always so eager to volunteer! She was perfect for the demo, she played right into it! If I can figure out how to post videos I'll put it on here. It was awesome!
After we finished at the River Walk and Fort Discovery, we were on a mission to find some fresh Georgia Peaches! Unfortunately, most of the Peach orchards are in S. Carolina and since we live so close to South Carolina we had to settle for fresh South Carolina Peaches. (Just in case you didn't know South Carolina actually produces more Peaches than Georgia, just FYI.) Anyways, we drove another 20-30 minutes to a produce stand in Edgefield County, SC and got some Peaches as another part to our late Fathers day presents. We enjoyed some yummy peaches and ice cream, along with a southern favorite of Hot Pepper Jelly.
Sounds gross, right? I was reluctant to try it, but I gave in and it was so good. I just kept eating it! You get Ritz, or butter crackers, and spread cream cheese on top then spread some jelly on top of that and WOW! It's got a little kick, from the peppers but not too much,(This coming from the girl who always buys Mild and sometimes it's still too hot for me!) but it's also really sweet. Don't knock it 'til you try it! Only problem is, I've had never seen Hot Pepper Jelly before my Mom showed it to me at Sara's (name of the produce stand in SC). I thought it would be fun to bring it to Utah with me when I fly out there, but then I thought of the fun I would have with security, and I changed my mind! Someday though, we will introduce this southern favorite to you Utahns! Love you all!

We had a lot of fun this Father's Day! Not only did we get to celebrate my children's wonderful Father, but my father was able to be here as well. We started off the day with a yummy breakfast of eggs, Sausage (specifically for My day), Bacon (specifically for Erik) and toast. It was really yummy. Then we all went to church together, and our organ isn't very loud so Dad was able to stay in sacrament meeting the whole time! After Church we went home and had a wonderful dinner, picked out by my husband, of Parmesan Chicken and for dessert, in honor of my dad, Pumpkin Pie! His Favorite!!! We had a lot of fun with my parents here, unfortunatly neither my mom or I even thought about pictures until they had already left, so I have nothing to really show that they were here, but the wonderful memories we made!
OK, OK...Elizabeth lost her other front tooth forever ago. I just have not posted in a while, so I'm a little behind. What a cute grin. She's still very toothless even a month later. It was interesting to see her eat corn on the cob, but she persisted and ate the whole thing.
