Sick, Sick, SICK! **UPDATED**

Oh the joys of being sick. I didn't even get a chance to do my first day of training for my 5K before the sickness hit me! Usually, I start an exercise program and I'm doing really good.
Then about a week or two into it, BAAAMMMM...

...SICK!

I think it's my body's way of saying...

"AAAHHHH, What the crap!!!!"

If I'm lucky I get back with it. If not...like the last couple of times...I never get back to it.

No worries though, I really am determined this time, so as soon as I'm doing better, WATCH OUT!

On the lighter side, I think that I have strep throat, as opposed to what I know you are all thinking and wondering...

...But I'm sure that if my family and I are suddenly quarantined then you'll get your answer. :)

Here's hoping that I get to start my training on Monday!

**UPDATE**
I just got back from the DR. They don't think it's strep because I didn't have fever. The Diagnosis: it's just a nasty virus. I'm not surprised, I am more sick when it's a virus then when I have strep. However, they did ask me if I had been to Mexico, Texas, or California recently!
Nope, for once I'm happy to say, I haven't been anywhere! :)

Birthday Cards...for ME!

I was going to do this long-winded post about,
Why I Dislike My Birthday...
BUT
I changed my mind.
Hey, I'm allowed to do that, I'm a mom!

Instead,
I'm just going to show you one of the reasons why I like my birthday.

Birthday kisses, hugs, and prayers in my behalf, and of course, the cards...

Lizzy's card

Karlee's cards. She made more than one.

Jordan's card.

How can you not love that!
AND
they tried so hard to be good today and not fight,
just so I would have a good Birthday...what more could I ask for?!?

Goals! They're a good thing!?!?! Right??

Alright, so I was looking through my blog lists and I came to my friend Kate's blog. She just accomplished a goal that I have had for...uhhhhh...years! I know, that is so sad. It's not even a really difficult goal (for most), but one that I started working on when I lived in Texas 4 years ago.I started working on "running", or for me it's more like a really slow jog.

My goal was to run a whole 5K, no walking.

Now for those of you that run all the time, stop laughing, I'm serious. Even when I was in "my best shape" when I was on the volleyball team (in high school), I had a hard time running distances. Even when I was on the track team (I did field events!) I couldn't run a full 5K.
Anyways, back to the confessions...I mean story. When I lived in Texas, shortly after Jordan was born, I started running. I would walk for 45 minutes to an hour, and stop just short of home and "run" the rest of the way. Every time I exercised, I would change my route each time so that I would be farther and farther from home when my music ended. Eventually I was running 1-2 miles without stopping. It was a big accomplishment...for me. BUT then the same thing happens that always happens and LIFE interrupted. We had to prepare for a move. Then we had to move. Then we were displaced for almost 2 months before we started to get back into a routine, this time without Erik. Long story short, I never got back to it.
Now, I'm sure that if I tried to run 1/2 mile I would collapse! And there is way more of me wiggling then there was 4 years ago. My bad!
So with all of you as my witnesses, I'm going to start back again. Sadly, this is not the most perfect timing since we are moving in the next 5 months, but I still need to start.
With another birthday down, I figure it's about time to get back to some of my goals, and let's face it...I need the exercise! So...

My goal is to run/jog a 5K without walking!

I'll keep you posted on the journey! Thanks for so many of you that have helped inspire me to reach my goals!Way to go Kate, on finishing your first 5K ever, and reaching your goal!

My Imaginative Kindergartener

I would just like to preface this by saying:
1. We have never been to the sea
2. Karlee is deathly afraid of sharks.
3. Apparently, Karlee has a thing for boxes.

Here are two stories that Karlee wrote 100% on her own. The first one was entered into a little story contest at her school. I still don't know what happened with that, but I just got it back from her teacher and thought it was cute. So enjoy!

Just in case it's too small, or you have a hard time reading it, let me translate:
"One day i wet (went) to the sea. my mom and dad they came to. I love to go to the sea to swim. I see a shark i ran but the shark was nisse (nice) he let me play with him. I had fun then it was time for bed the End."

The second story is my favorite. It was written before the other story. Unfortunately, when we tried to scan it in, part of it got cut off, and the original was tossed before I realized it, so I will tell you at the end what it says.
"I like to play down by the sea. and it is fun but one day i soo (saw) a box in the sea i am a good swimr. I swimd and swimd but i cant get it the box wus (was) to fue (far) so i swimd back i will get it to-day."

I especially like her illustrations. Notice the box has a cool light-bulb-thing on it. I would swim after it too! The box is hard to see on the 2nd page, but it is on the far right side of the illustration...most of it got cut off. Apparently, the fish are carrying it away.

Oh Karlee, you are such a joy. We love having you and your imagination in our family!

We did everything, including the Kitchen SINK!

*Warning* More home improvements, so if you are sick of them...look away NOW! :)

We replaced the kitchen sink ALL BY OURSELVES! Look at us, aren't we awesome! It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be...had I known this I would have done it years ago!
Our old sink was 6 inches deep and we replaced it with one that's 8 inches deep, and a new faucet. Our faucet and sprayer had been leaking for an embarrassingly long time. Long enough to create the habit of leaving the sprayer in the sink so it won't leak underneath...sad I know! The hardest thing about the new sink has been NOT leaving the new sprayer in it.

Here is the only picture I could find of the OLD sink and faucet. (I took this picture shortly after we moved in, hence the wall paper border and white walls!)

Here's the process:
And the final product to compare to the first picture:
What do you think of them apples!?!

A pack of wild elephants couldn't keep them away!

It's been raining a lot lately, and yesterday it was kind of warm and raining, so it was nearly impossible for me to keep the kids from one of their favorite activities...

...playing in the rain.

That is until...

it got cold, and they were soaking wet!
